2008 Summer Camp Information

Dates:

Week 1 - June 9 - June 13

Week 2  - July 14- July 18  Special Parelli Kids Week

Week 3  - July 21- July 25

Week 4  - July 28- August 1 Special Parelli Kids Week

 Week 5 - August 11- August 15

Your Regular Week Includes:

Monday - Getting To Know You Day - We ask questions and assign riders to horses we think are a good fit. Lessons today are used to evaluate horse/rider combinations and rider groups. We have beginners through advanced riders, so it is important to have each rider on a horse who is fun and in a group that is too.

Tuesday - Lessons and Horse Care Day - Today we make any changes we need to in horses and groups. We make sure everyone is happy and learning new skills.

Wednesday - Rodeo Day - We divide riders into 2 groups ( less experienced ride first) and teach them all about rodeo events. All riders 'run' the barrel racing and pole bending patterns (at speeds comfortable for them) just like the ones in local rodeos.

Thursday - Big Trailride Day - We load horses into trailers and take horses and campers to our Lancaster farm to ride on our extensive trails. Our farm has 50 acres and is bordered by a 600 acre nature preserve so we do not have to ride on any roads. The more experienced group rides first today. We enjoy more riding and swimming in the shallow pond after lunch. The horses and campers absolutely LOVE this afternoon!

Friday - Horseshow Day - We teach riders all about different types of shows. We teach them what to do in a show and run through a 'mock class'. We demonstrate clipping and showgrooming. Riders learn how to bathe 'their' horse for a show.

Each day has a 'theme' and all presentations, lessons and demos are based around the 'theme' of that day. We do our best to present lots of different types of riding during the week and riders are encouraged to explore many different riding possibilities.  We teach new and exciting skills so riders can leave stronger and better than when they arrived. We want everyone to leave confident, curious and excited about horses!

  Each Regular Day Includes:

8:30-9:00am Arrive and divide horses & riders into groups of age and ability.

9:00am First lesson begins. (If we have 2 groups, lessons are 1 1/2 hrs; if we have 3 groups, lessons are 1 hr)

Parelli Kids is a brand new concept that Charlotte Cannon and Pat Parelli have envisioned.

The 3 biggest things needed to succeed with horses and Parelli Natural Horsemanship are:

Imagination, Energy and Freedom from Fear

The Parelli Program teaches everyone to do extraordinary things with horses, now with Parelli Kids we are targeting a group who can really take the skills, information and techniques and rise to amazing new heights!

This is a spectacular week for you if you want to be GREAT with horses! I will teach you how!

Join me, Charlotte Cannon, for a week you will never forget!
